Tom Fortune

Manager of Upper Primary (Y3-6)

Tom Fortune is an experienced Primary School teacher with ten years of experience teaching at St Andrew’s Grammar and eleven years teaching in Los Angeles, California. His experience in both public and private settings has given him a unique perspective to bring to his classroom. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida and a Master of Arts (Special Education) from California State University.

Tom is passionate about helping his students take ownership of their education by developing learning, leadership, and life skills that will serve them beyond their school years. He believes in cultivating strong relationships between students, parents, and the school to foster a sense of success and community. Tom’s background in financial sales and marketing, as well as his experience as a development officer and camp director for Paul Newman’s camps for chronically ill children, has given him a unique set of skills to bring to his teaching.

In addition to his teaching duties, Tom also coordinates programs such as Mathletics, Reading Eggs, Speakers’ Challenge, and School Debates. He enjoys collaborating with the staff and community at St Andrew’s Grammar and feels lucky to have found a school with such a beautiful culture and such wonderful students. Tom enjoys playing tennis, an occasional attempt at the piano, umpiring weekend T-Ball games, and serving on a local P&C. In his free time, he also enjoys watching Gator football.
