Jodie Stevens

Maths Enrichment

Jodie Stevens has 22 years’ experience as an Early Childhood and Primary Educator and has 2 children of her own in primary school. She was raised in Perth and was fortunate enough to attend a great school herself, St Mary’s Anglican Girls School. She has taught at a variety of schools in Western Australia with the majority of her experience in the private sector.  Jodie uses a positive approach to teaching, building on students’ strengths and utilising their individual learning style to ensure each student reaches their full potential academically and socially.

With a keen interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), Jodie has developed the Mathematics Enrichment Programme at St Andrew’s over the years. Jodie facilitates learning through powerful and provocative mathematical investigations for today’s world. Her contemporary methodology, real life examples and relatable stories help students create sustainable high-performance results and in turn enrich their work ethic and collaborative skills.

Delivered in a clear, precise, and engaging style, students are encouraged to think outside the box, laugh, discuss, extend, and walk away with immediately applicable and practical strategies.

Jodie delivers a message of positivity, creativity, dynamic thinking, innovation, and high-performance learning experiences for students that meet the Enrichment program criteria. Jodie endeavours to foster a lifelong love of mathematics and inquiry-based learning in all her students.

Jodie’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education (ECE) (1997) and a Bachelor of Education in ECE (2000). She attends IPSHA network meetings for Enrichment teachers and keeps up to date with the latest research in this field.  Jodie has trained at DSF (Dyslexia SPELD Foundation) and qualified to teach their “Sounds Write” program, to better provide literacy support to children with learning delays and in some of her spare time to underprivileged children. Jodie also enjoys following contemporary educators and their published blogs and papers such as Glenn Cappelli, Maggie Dent and Linda Stade.

Some of Jodie’s personal interests include sailing, she represented WA at the National Sailing Championship, Salsa dancing and SCUBA diving. Her current interests are teaching, caring for her family, and walking.

Jodie is excited about teaching the Maths Enrichment Program at St Andrew’s Grammar. She looks forward to continuing her work in this multicultural school which promotes the importance of the individual child and strives for excellence.
