The focus during the middle years of Secondary education at St. Andrew’s is a seamless transition from Year 8 to Year 9. In order to help facilitate this we combine the Year 8/9 students during camp week in Term 1. This enables them to socialise and provides opportunities for team building. Another focus is the transition from Year 10 to Year 11, and students are provided with comprehensive course selection and career education advice during this important transition phase from Term 3 in Year 10.
Year 9/10 students are placed in combined classes for some of their subjects.
The middle years are a transition from early adolescence in Year 7/8 to developing adolescence in Year 9/10.
Subject selection, career education, ‘keys for life’ road safety programme and work experience are an important focus in Year 10.
The Year 10/11/12 River Cruise held in Term 2 provides a social opportunity for our Year 10 students to experience a seamless transition into Year 11.
