Secondary Parent Update – April 9
Dear Parents & Guardians,
I would like to thank you for the support and positive feedback you have shown the staff over the last three weeks regarding online learning. This delivery method has been adopted well and we are proud of the work that is being done to keep students engaged in their learning, despite the challenges of learning remotely.
The ‘teething problems’ that occurred in the first week, have been sorted out during meetings and staff professional learning and sharing ideas that have been held over the last two weeks. The teachers have been dedicated and thorough learning to use Zoom and Education Perfect to set work and to teach lessons. Teaching online is markedly different from the classroom, and teachers are to be commended for their commitment to adapting their usual lessons to enable the delivery of an engaging program.
Next term, in addition to our current suite of platforms, online learning will continue using, Clickview to give students access to a vast library of video material to support their learning.
Please be reminded that the Easter holiday break begins on Thursday 9 April and students will not resume lessons until Wednesday 29 April, as per the school calendar. Some classes will have work packages prepared for them over the holiday period. Wednesday 29 April has been set aside for parents to collection of any work packages, text books and stationery from school.
To ensure there we maintain an appropriate distance during this collection time, the teachers will organise packages for collection from the Palassis courtyard at the following times:
- 9.00am to 10.00am: Families with surnames A to G;
- 10.30am to 11.30am: Families with surnames H to M;
- 12.00noon to 1.00pm: Families with surnames N to S;
- 1.30pm to 2.30pm: Families with surnames T to Z.
Year 7 -10 Parent/Student/Teacher interviews were scheduled for Week 1 in Term 2 and a Year 11&12 Parent Information Evening was scheduled for last week. We are working out the best way to manage these and will be sending specific information to the parents in the different year groups addressing the issues affecting their children’s progress.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy Easter and an enjoyable, safe holiday, and I look forward to working closely with you next Term.
Yours sincerely,
Jannine Webb
