Update on School Closure relating to Front Line Health Workers – Monday 23 March

Dear Parents & Guardians,

As you know, this morning we took the decision to close St Andrew’s for at least the next three weeks after a parent of two of our students tested positive for COVID-19.

I would like to thank you all for your support and understanding with our decision to close the school. Your positive support has been overwhelming.

Our priority during this time is the health and safety of students. The closure of the school was undertaken by the direction of the Board and Hellenic Community with the sole purpose of protecting your child and the community.

The second step is the sanitisation of the whole school which has already commenced today. This will be completed by tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday).

The third step is offering parents of Front Line Health Workers the opportunity for their children to attend supervised online learning in a sanitised classroom at school if required, effective from Wednesday 25 March.

The step is to ensure essential health services can continue to be provided to the community.

Therefore, if you work in the following front line health professions and require child supervision assistance during the next three weeks, please email Michelle Powell, Principal’s Assistant at principalpa@sag.wa.edu.au with your request and confirmation of your employment and position no later than Tuesday at 12pm:

• Doctor
• Nurse
• Paramedic
• Pharmacist

Once contact has been made with the school, the arrangements of this supervision will be shared.

We know that the school closure has had an effect on many parents and their ability to continue working however your child’s safety remains our number one priority.
