1. Applications for permanent or temporary positions (full-time or part-time)

(a) All applications for permanent or temporary positions must be made on the relevant Applicant Form.

i. “Teacher/Teacher Related” for teaching and Teacher Assistant positions.
ii. “Administrative/Support Staff” for all other positions.

Referee requirements are outlined in the application forms.

(b) The School does not always provide Selection Criteria for positions advertised, but does provide the relevant Duty Statement(s) for each position.

(c) It is assumed that all applicants have made themselves familiar with the publicised Duty Statement(s) and the School’s Clearance Requirements.

(d) Clearance requirements are detailed below in clause 3.

2. Applications for Relief Teacher positions

(a) Relief Teacher applicants are required to provide two referees with their applications. Referee requirements for permanent positions are detailed on the final page of the Application Form(s).

(b) Clearance requirements are detailed below in clause 3.

3. Clearance Requirements

All clearance requirements must meet with the approval of the Principal in order for any contract of employment to take effect.

The Principal (or authorised nominee) is required to sight and take a copy of the originals of qualifications (including academic transcripts), Birth Certificate, Certificate of Citizenship or valid Residential Visa and valid clearance documentation, eg Western Australian College of Teaching (WACOT) membership and Working with Children (WWC) Assessment Notice.

(a) Qualified Teachers

Teachers are required to have, or be eligible to obtain, a current financial WACOT registration.

Full details of the Acts and Regulations pertaining to clearance requirements and registration can be found on the WACOT web site www.wacot.wa.edu.au.

In accordance with the Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004 , all staff are required to undergo a Working with Children Check, and/or possess a current “Assessment Notice”.

Details of the Working with Children regulations are available through the Department for Community Development (Western Australia) website http://www.checkwwc.wa.gov.au.

It is the responsibility of the holder of the Assessment Notice to advise the School should a matter arise that would affect the validity of their Assessment Notice. Application forms are available at Australia Post outlets.

When the application is completed it must be signed by both the Applicant and the Principal then lodged in person at an Australia Post outlet which has the ability to take identity photographs.

(b) Administrative/Support staff and Educational Assistants

In accordance with the Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004 , staff (except for teachers and Music Tutors) who were employed during 2006 or who commence during 2007 are required to undergo a Working with Children Check, and/or possess a current “Assessment Notice”.

Details of the Working with Children regulations are available through the Department for Community Development (Western Australia) website http://www.checkwwc.wa.gov.au.

It is the responsibility of the holder of the Assessment Notice to advise the School should a matter arise that would affect the validity of their Assessment Notice. Application forms are available at Australia Post outlets.

(c) Religious Leaders

(d) Peripatetic Music Tutors

In accordance with the Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking Act 2004, Peripatetic Music Tutors are required to undergo a Working With Children Check and/or possess a current “Assessment Notice”.

The WWC clearance is valid for a three year period from the issue date and must then be renewed and must be dated no later than one year prior to commencement of employment.

(e) Volunteers

Volunteers involved in child-related work with students aged up to and including the age of 12 are required to undergo a Working with Children Check, and/or possess a current “Assessment Notice”.

(g) Other Personnel

Those paid by the School to perform roles with/for students under the age of 18 years as either a sports coach, or providing accommodation for care of children, attending overnight camps or providing a transport service are required to undergo a Working with Children Check, and/or possess a current “Assessment Notice”.
